Voltaire Society: Animal rights, animal wrongs?

Categories: Sixth Form, The Arts,

Voltaire Society President Shanne Gutierrez writes: “This week’s meeting, on the issue of animal rights, was led by guest speaker Ms Juana Warburton from Manx SPCA. As well as talking about the part played by the organisation on the island, she gave a potted history of the animal rights movement. In a lively and thought-provoking session, she also fielded questions on a wide range of themes, including animal welfare, medical testing, hunting  and vegetarianism. Once again, it was pleasing to see so many new faces at today’s meeting. Above all, thank you to our guest speaker for such a stimulating meeting.”
