Success in Poetry Trail 2017
Four students and one member of staff have triumphed in the 2017 Poetry Trail, run by the Isle of Man Poetry Society as part of Manx LitFest. This competition, open to all islanders, asked poets to submit a poem based on a topic of their choice.
Morgan, Gypsy, Bailey and James (year 8) entered a poem entitled ‘Think On’, based on the refugee crisis and Ros Alcock, our school librarian, entered a poem called ‘In the Card Shop’.
Both were selected as winners from a pool of 60 poems by 39 poets and their poems will appear as part of the route in this year’s Poetry Trail. The Poetry Trail challenges members of the public to track down all 15 winning poems in locations around Douglas town centre.
The poems will be displayed from 13th September- 15th October 2017 in the following locations:
‘Think On’- Henry Bloom Noble Library
‘In the Card Shop’- Waterstones
A huge congratulations to all involved for this fantastic achievement!
