Muggle Maths at Ballakermeen!

Categories: Other, The Arts,

Once a year, Ballakermeen High School Library celebrates Harry Potter and all things Hogwarts by transforming the Fiction Library into Hogwarts Library, with magical objects like a basket of dragon eggs, magical potion jars, alongside a Gringotts bank cash register as well as broomsticks and wands!

Having been given their Potter themed name for the day, and having had the sorting hat tell them their house,  Year 7 and 8 students are then able to dress up in magical Hogwarts robes, before starting their lesson. Most of the twenty or so classes which have visited this year have been English classes, with lessons focusing on descriptive writing (creating fantastic beasts!) but this year, for the first time, Maths classes came too to take part in some ‘muggle maths’ lessons.

Librarian Ros Alcock said ‘ Harry Potter is so popular, students love their lessons in Hogwarts Library, and it is really great that this year the maths department have joined in the fun’.
