And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?
It came without ribbons. It came without tags.
It came without packages, boxes or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before.
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store?
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?
~ Dr Seuss
Hello to all,
Christmas is fast approaching. We hope you are all beginning to get a sense of excitement and festivity. We know we are, and the Christmas Fayre definitely helped to get us in a seasonal mood!
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came and supported the schools fayre. The atmosphere was energetic and the canteens were both full to the brim.
Maughold prefects ran a “tin-can alley” stall where participants had to knock down all the stacked cans in order to win a prize. There were a few frustrations, many flyaway tennis balls and repeat competitors but everyone had a great smile on their face and seemed to really enjoy it. Even Santa came and had a go!
Our total raised for our charities from that one event was a brilliant £96, so we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all who came and had a go. You are helping us to support two great causes. If you can think of any other events to run, to raise money for our charities, please do come and let us know.
Maughold tutors and their tutees did an incredible job with their hampers. A big congratulations to Miss Avery’s tutor group for winning our hamper competition. Their ginger bread house complete with Christmas Lights was awesome. We’re sure whoever won that hamper will have loved it.
Our next house assembly is on 8th December. We will be discussing what Christmas is all about.
Finally from us, another big thank you to you all, for all of the hard work that you do for the house. It is appreciated more than you know.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Miss L Wynne and the Maughold Prefects
