Institute of Marine Engineers visit Year 11

Categories: Careers, Other,

Malcolm Vincent from the Institute of Marine Engineers spoke to Year 11 about the work of the RNLI across the UK and in the Isle of Man.

He gave a very interesting presentation about how the RNLI saves lives wherever there is water, and that the service is run by volunteers from all walks of life.  Sir William Hillary’s belief of “With courage nothing is impossible” was clear to see and students were shown films of the work of lifeboat crews.

Year 11 were also shown the FLOAT technique of what to do if you unexpectedly fall in to water and to “Respect the Water” to stay safe.
