Hillary House Update
The first half term back after summer is always a busy one, but Hillary House has been even busier with their extra-curricular activities and fundraising.
Mia in 7HH3 ran a teddy collection for Operation Smile as a gift to children undergoing life changing surgery. This organisation is important to Mia as a family friend has just set off on her journey to Africa to carry out her services for the organisation. Well done Mia!
A massive congratulations to Ben (Year 7) who came first in the badminton tournament for his year group, scoring 100 points to add to Hillary’s total. Tyler (Year 8) also did very well, coming second in his year group, scoring 80 points.
Last half term, members of our House voted for Mannin Sepsis as our local charity and we are very excited to begin fundraising for such a good cause.
On Tuesday 23rd October we held a Halloween bake sale and we raised an amazing £89 for Mannin Sepsis. A huge thank you to all pupils who got involved!
Next half term, in the run up to Christmas, Hillary’s Global Goal focus is ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’ (Goal 12). Our aim is to help BHS become a more environmentally friendly school through introducing a range of initiatives. One initiative that would have a massive impact is to introduce reusable water bottles to limit the school’s consumption of single-use plastics and to save parents money! If half of the pupil population of our school bought one plastic bottle a day, that is 800 single-use plastic bottles destined to be thrown away every day.
Look out for our Christmas-themed fundraising next half-term!
